The Migrant Farm Worker Division of Colorado Legal Services (“CLS”) is seeking four summer interns who share a passion for advocating for the rights of low-wage migrant farm workers. We litigate cases in federal and state courts and provide administrative advocacy involving the working conditions of farm workers across Colorado. Our work focuses primarily on wage theft, human trafficking, immigration, and civil rights. We also run a comprehensive community education program that involves outreach to workers at labor camps, along with outreach to community-based groups. Our client community is comprised primarily of Latino migrant and seasonal farm workers.

Summer interns will primarily focus on outreach to farm workers at labor camps. Interns will also work with attorneys on client intakes and interviewing and in the various stages of litigation and advocacy related to working conditions, civil rights (including human trafficking), housing, sexual harassment, and immigration. Interns will assist with current litigation and other projects.

Locations: We are hiring one intern to work in each of four offices: Denver (Brighton-Greeley-Fort Morgan area), Western Slope (Olathe-Delta-Grand Junction area), Arkansas Valley (La Junta-Pueblo area), San Luis Valley (Alamosa-Center-Del Norte area).

Qualifications: Students who have a minimum of ten weeks to commit are encouraged to apply. Students must have dedication and sensitivity to serving the legal needs of low-wage individuals, including farm workers. Spanish speaking is required. Students must be willing to work at night and travel within their designated region in Colorado.

Compensation: We provide a stipend of $500/week for ten weeks for interns in the Western Slope, Arkansas Valley, and San Luis Valley locations. The Denver location internship is unpaid. All travel and mileage expenses will be reimbursed for all locations.
